Is it true that u can get genital herpes from using a bath towel of someone who already has genital herpes?

I have been in a relationship for over a year and i recently went to the doctor to discover that i have genital herpes. i am not conviced that my boyfriend gave it to me we are in a really committed relationship is it possible that i could've gotten it any other way? how long can someone have it in there body before the doctors can tell? because we went to the doctor 6 months ago and we were fine.Is it true that u can get genital herpes from using a bath towel of someone who already has genital herpes?
Possible but not likely. You would have to use the towel with in seconds of some one with an out break of genital herpes using it. You would be more likely to get genital herpes if you had oral or regular sex with him. Herpes likes skin to skin contact when you have some kind of sexual activity (ie dry humping, rubbing genitals, oral sex or regular sex) to pass on. It doesn't survive on objects or away from the body for more then seconds.

Herpes can take a while to build up antibodies in your blood. At the time you may not have had enough antibodies in your blood to give you a positive test. Also testing for herpes is not usually done in the routine std tests.

Just because your partner has herpes that doesn't mean you will automatically have or get it as well, but you may eventually get it from him. Herpes can lie dormant for months before there is a break out. If there is no out break the person, with herpes can have herpes and not even know it until they are tested.

Have another test for herpes done by your doctor just to be on the safe side.Is it true that u can get genital herpes from using a bath towel of someone who already has genital herpes?
no, genital herpes cannot be contracted from spoons, toilet seats, towels etc. although it is advisable not to share towels with anyone else if you are infected with genital herpes.

doctors can't tell you when you contracted herpes. although sometimes, if you have just contracted it, symptoms will develop between 2-7 days.

however if you have been in a committed and faithful relationship for a while then either you or your partner has been carrying the infection and it has been lying dormant. this could make either of you an asymptomatic carrier. your boyfriend may never have symptoms of genital herpes but he may be carrying it and you have caught it from asymptomatic shedding. i should add that asymptomatic shedding tends to decrease in recurrance over the years and is most likely to happen within the first year.

the bottom line is though that genital herpes is a sexually transmitted disease and there is no other way you could have caught it.
YES IT IS HIGHLY CONTAGIOUS

once you get it you have it for life. however it will come and go, someone is only contageous while the herpes has flared up. you can catch it by sharing towels, flannels, glasses (if its in the form of a ';cold sore'; etc
Highly unlikely. But kissing or sharing a spoon or something like that could be the cause .
