Letters: is it true it is better to use plain envelopes?

I've read somewhere that it's better to use plain white envelopes when you write to someone in boot camp.

It is true? If yes, why?

My friend left to June 2nd [to a hotel] to go to boot camp for the Marines.

I was just wondering when the first letter will arrive.

I know he doesn't have that much time on his hands since boot camp is kinda like a jail [no phone calls, no visiting, alot of yelling, etc.], but I've alot alot of rumors.

Like.. he can write everyday, but they only send it out once a week.

Or their instructors read their letters out loud, or hold letters to punish them.

Is any of this true?

I know this question asked more than just about letters so thank you so much for taking the time to read %26amp; answer this.

Please fill out the sources when answering the question.

If there's anything missing from here, I'll edited it asap.Letters: is it true it is better to use plain envelopes?
No worries, he'll get time soon to make a phone call every day or so. He'll get letters out if he's got energy left in him. No worries though, he'll appreciate your letters and no, he won't be subject to humiliation with his letters. They're left personal. Just don't send any food to him in basic. Those candy bars won't make it past the drill sergeant's desk. As far as the envelope goes, it should make no difference.Letters: is it true it is better to use plain envelopes?
well it sort of is and not a white envolope is good because it's someone your sending a letter to boot camp and sometimes not because you can express your way of life in anyway . it will take some time for someone in boot camp to mail you tht fast and the rumores you heard are not true because boot camp is like learning responsbility and other workging styles
White envelopes are best. No stickers or comments on them either. No Recruit wants any extra attention brought to them. They look forward to receiving mail. The mail goes out everyday except sunday. Dont send musical cards either.

Do not send ANYTHING to them unless they request it. Keep letters possitive and upbeat. I dont beleive DI's hold letters. They actually encourage letter writting.
