Germany: The Germans were already fed up with Hitler's ';leadership'; by the time that the Allies invaded Normandy. The German generals (including Rommel) were plotting to overthrow and assassinate Hitler and had surreptitiously contacted the US who completely rebuffed them. When Germany was taken over by the Allies, it was split into East and West with the East being handed to the homicidal maniac Stalin by his friend and admirer FDR. I wouldn't call this ';saving'; Germany.

The only sticking point was that the US was DEMANDING an unconditional surrender, whereas the Japanese wanted to retain the current leadership structure in their nation. So, instead of accepting their surrender with this ONE, SINGLE condition, the US dropped two nuclear bombs on Japan, destroying two cities and hundreds of thousands of lives. This is ';saving'; Japan?





France: If you're speaking of WWII, France was conquered by Germany and liberated by the Allies. France was a democracy prior to the German occupation and after.
