yeah it's true. the base is just so you don't have to deal with the seat belt every time you get in the car that you usually take the baby in but when you go in someone Else's car you can just use the car seat without the base.Is true that the car seat can be used without the base by using the car seat belt?
The base does help secure the car seat and if you can use one, do so. If you're in a pinch or rather than getting a second base for a car that's used infrequently, it would be more cost effective to use just the seat belt. We took our baby on vacation in June and just used the car seat in the rental car with a seat belt. It obviously would have been more inconvenient to try to take the base with us on a plane and to safely set it up in a car for 5 days. The majority of infant seats, though, come with a base already so you don't have to purchase one separately.
It depends on the seat. My car seat does not have an area for a seat belt to go through so it cannot. But mine is the only one that I've ever seen like that. It's pretty annoying too since my base is hard to move to different cars (once you get it in securely, you don't want to move it). So yeah, on most you can. I'd personally want to see how secure it is before I tried it though.
All infant car seats can be secured, without the base, with the safety belt. the base is there merely for convenience. if a seat belt can hold a grown person, then it can hold an infant seat down when secured correctly.
Untill only a few years ago there were no bases with the carseats. It is safe but I too would prefere to use the base. My manual for the carseat actually says that yes the seat can be used without the base.
they are both safe. i used the base also unless we were going in someone Else's car i would just use the car seat i didn't see a difference at all
