No. They didn't ask but the Board met to consider whether they could, and advised them that although it could release to pay their legal costs if they were tried for Madeleine's manslaughter etc, if they were found guilty they would have to pay the money back.





It doesn't look as if they will be charged with any crime though, but Richard Branson has provided a hefty contribution to a separate fund for legal costs and is encouraging others to help also.





But if they were charged and tried, then at least it means the taxpayer wouldn't have to fund their legal costs.

Apparently they don't have to now - a multitude of wealthy people are tepping in with cash for them.. So you can all stop buying Find Madeline (AKA Clear Our Names AKA Supporting Leaving Children Home Alone On Holiday) merchandise..
