Is it true that people along time ago used to die from having diarrhea?
I learned this in class...Is it true that people along time ago used to die from having diarrhea?
Yes.
Children in African still regularly die from diarrhea which can easily lead to dehydration. Is it true that people along time ago used to die from having diarrhea?
Yes, and it can still happen. When a person has severe diarrhea they lose large amounts of fluids and electrolytes. The loss of fluid causes low blood pressue which can cause organ damage. Electrolyte abnormalities can cause seizures, cardiac arrhythmias etc.
Fluid replacement with oral or IV fluid is necessary.
It is very true even today. Some time in italy they intentionally induced diarrhea as a form of punishment. They used castor oil and the subjects sometimes died of dehydration.
i have never heard of this before , but if you think of it , if you have diarrhea and get dehydrated and have no medicine to take you can die from dehydration so im sure its possible , also diarrhea can be caused by infection so thats another possibility
yes.
from the dehydration and the electrolyte imbalances that it can cause.
and people still could; there are a lot of people that are hospitalized just for diarrhea, but they received medication and IV fluids to help them while they recover.
yes, it's true. some people still do today.
Yes, it's an inflammatory disorder of the intestines/colon called, ';dysentery.'; It caused extreme diarrhea, (containing mucous and blood,) and was often fatal.

Is it true that plastic grocery bags are going to not be used anymore?
I heard that plastic grocery bags are not going to be used anymore by 2009, have you heard this too? is there any other plastic not going to be used anymore? I noticed in stores they are all selling the reusable vinyal bags.Is it true that plastic grocery bags are going to not be used anymore?
I have no idea... Here in most stores it costs to use plastic bags a lot of the time and they sell the vinyl ones.
I don't know though... I love having the plastic bags because I use them as garbage bags afterwards.... saves me money from buying plastic garbage bags. So I think we should keep them around.
If people stopped driving and starting using public transit that would do more than stopping plastic bag use I bet.Is it true that plastic grocery bags are going to not be used anymore?
the reason for that proposed change is to reduce the amount of non degradable materials that are put in dumps.
but I'm not sure the alternatives - reusable bags that you have to bring with you, or bags made from degradable materials, will cause that change, unless of course it will become illegal to use plastic bags.
I get far more plastic bags than I could ever use as trash bags - and I try to refuse a bag as often as possible.....
I dunno if they are banning them....but I sure as heck hope so.....
How is it that we see so many as trash along the road.....I don't recall seeing too many paper trash bags as litter....
In Michigan, we had a tremendous problem with empty cans and bottles as litter.....so we added a deposit to those containers....voila, now we have very few empties along the roads, curbs, laying around in parks, etc....
I'd be all for doing something like that if it meant less plastic getting into the environment. Somehow I suspect people wouldnt want only two items in a grocery bag if they had to pay a dime each [and having worked summers as a bagger - lemme tell ya, the number of people who want two items double bagged is staggering]
i dont kow about 2009 but i hear there switching to reusable bags yea
Yes - are trying to to that .
But i think all bags are a bit bad or so every thing go in your bin ? .
Some states are banning plastic bags. Too bad the giant supermarkets refuse to stop using plastic bags, which is an incredible waste of oil.
Here in New Haven, Indiana, the local Kroger store clerks don't even offer you a choice of ';paper or plastic'; - they just dump all your groceries into flimsy little plastic bags unless you ask for paper bags. It's an abhorrent waste of oil, destructive to our environment, and callously insensitive to Kroger customers. -RKO- 01/15/08
Dunno...But it's ironic, because stores originally switched to plastic bags because of pressure from environmentalists who were complaining that paper bags killed too many trees.
Yet another example of the ';Law of Unintended Consequences'; ... which basically says be careful about recommending ';solutions'; for unproven problems, because you may end up making things worse in some other way.
I know this is true in China. Here's the article:

Most likely they will be still used, but you have to pay for them.
Many stores are self regulating and not using plastic grocery bags. Even China is announcing a plastic bag ban (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/asia-pa鈥?/a> and the same can be said in England. So the world is moving to reduce or remove the use of plastic grocery bags.

Is it true that houses used to cost $4,500?
Why does inflation exist? Is it a friend to government, or a foe?Is it true that houses used to cost $4,500?
My parents bought their home in California in 1942 for $1200... When they retired in 1980 they shold it for $850,000. Inflation exists for many reasons most of which revolve around the laws of supply and demand as well as the theories involving ';the time value of money'; a dollar today is worth more then a dollor tomorrow because of interest. Inflation is a double edged sword for governement because it deals directly with economical issues. The value of the us dollar as compared to other contries currency is very important. If the value of the dollar drops to much other countries such as Japan and China will stop buying US bonds. Bonds are part of the way that the goverment receives money. So if inflation is good the value of our dollar goes up and other countries and people buy us savings bonds... if it is bad then people sell off the US savings bonds and the economy slows and growth declines in the market, people here become angry and if nothing is done we revolt and start again... thats also how we became a country...Is it true that houses used to cost $4,500?
They sure did. My parents bought a house in Texas in the 60's for $6,000! I was like ';wow';! In California, it's so hard to buy anything!
yes they did when annual salaries were $2000
why does inflation exist - because the people running our pension funds try to make more money each year with the same capital.. it is not sustainable in the very long term...

Is it true that unemployment is a social construct used to keep minimum wage low?
That's one way to look at it. No recent government has advocated full employment, as that would push wages up and lead to more inroads by organized labor. It also helps explain the government's relaxed attitude about illegal immigration. Is it true that unemployment is a social construct used to keep minimum wage low?
it doesnt really matter. you see even if minimum wage was higher the prices of goods/services would also increase. the problems would remain the same but with larger numbers. so think about it why would you use unemployment as a social construct to keep minimum wage low when common sense is enough... raising it would result in confusion and hectic comments as to why are ppl still having financial problems........student loan

Reporters seem to all be driving their agenda's now. Is true journalism dead in the U.S. as we use to know it?
Quality, unbiased journalism is dead and has been for at least 15 years if not longer.
